ABOUT MRS. DESMARAIS . . .
The first thing you should know about me is that I LOVE MY JOB! I tell the kids that I am one lucky person because I get to do what I enjoy everyday. Sure, it's a lot of work, but it is also extremely rewarding!
My other loves are my two kids. My son is 17 years old and goes to YHS, and my daughter is 14 years old and is joining her brother at the high school this year. We also have a labradoodle, Gilly, who is not supposed to shed but sheds like it's her job. Our newest addition to the family is a malshi shitztzu puppy, Miss Daisy Mae.
I originally taught in New Hampshire, where I was in a 4th & 5th grade looping program. I had the same students in my class for 2 years. When my kids came along I took some time off from work and then returned to education once my daughter entered kindergarten. I worked within the 7th & 8th grade special education department for a few years, taught for a year in a 6th grade, and this is my third year in 5th grade.
My goal for my students is to become strong readers and writers, independent and resourceful learners, and caring and responsible people. Together we can shape the bright futures of our children Please do not hesitate to get in touch with me with any concerns or questions that you may have throughout the year. I will always make time to discuss your child.
I'm looking forward to a fabulous school year!
Sincerely,
Hilary DesMarais
