Reading Logs
Students are expected to read 30 minutes MOST nights. (I’ve told them to shoot for 5 nights at a minimum.) This is in addition to the reading that happens at school. After school and weekend schedules can be very busy, so students need to plan accordingly. Some nights they might need to read longer to make up for other nights where they did not read or their reading was cut short. The students are required to read a book of their choice and complete one every 4 weeks or so. Dates are posted on our classroom calendar and extensions are given to those students reading lengthy books. Once they have finished reading a book, they need bring the log home to you and have you sign it. Then your child needs to find a new book to read ASAP.
*Please do not send a note in with your child stating that they read the book but forgot to bring their log home, as part of the assignment is remembering to bring home their reading log in the first place.
